17th Month Check Up!

So we missed his 15 month check up (bad mommy) so we had 17 month check up yesterday. I could have sworn that Emmett weighted 30 lbs. at least but it ends up he doesn't.

Here are his stats:

Height: 33" - 90th%
Weight: 23 lbs. 8 oz. - 25%
Head - can't remember exact measurement but it's in the 50%

Words:
Banana - comes out BAAAAAAA (like a sheep)
Gong Gong - grandpa in Chinese
Ding Dong - when he pushes on anything
Woof
Meow
Balloon - comes out as BAoooon
Hi
Bye
Roar - when he sees a lion in the book. Comes out as RAAAAAR

Words on deck:
Daddy - he said this once. But if I ask him where daddy is he will find a picture of Ben and bring it to me. So he knows who daddy is.
For the life of me I can't get him to say mama or mommy. It's KILLING me.

Favorite Toys/Skills:
Stacking boxes
Drumming on anything
Following the Roomba (our robot vacuum) around
Swiffer mop
Drinking out of a straw

Hi Five!

Hanging out in the front yard of the new house.

His pajamas are his favorite "woobie" to sleep with now.

New Bike!

We went over to Grandma and Granpa Burling's the other day and they had a surprise for Emmett!! Grandpa Burling has been good about taking pictures and sharing them with everyone (unlike me).

One of the best features on the bike is the bell!

He's quite proud of himself when he rings it.

Woah

So I just checked the baby blog thinking that it's been a long time and the last post was in December...and the post was about Halloween?! So ashamed.

We're not total slackers though. We spent the holidays with Ben's parents and also looked for a new place to live. After looking at 10+ houses we finally found one we could call home! So we packed up all of our stuff (and there was a lot) and moved. So now we live in Campbell, CA - about 45 minutes south of San Francisco. I was sad to leave San Francisco at first but I have to say that life in suburbia is pretty nice. We have plenty of room to spread our wings and a yard for Emmett to play in. Not bad at all. Now if only the rain would go away so we could play outside.

Emmett has reached quite a few milestones the past couple of months. He's increased his vocabulary from hi to bye, meow (when he sees a cat), woof (when he sees a dog) and rawr (when he sees a lion).

He's also starting to feed himself - he makes a mess of it but he's also quite proud when he manages to get the spoon in his mouth. Grandpa Burling was able to snap a couple of shots for us.

I'll try and get some more pictures of him up - he' starting to look more like a toddler than a baby now! No more chubby cheeks!

Pumpkins and Tigers

Oops. Just found these photos on my computer. Forgot to post them. I guess I'm a little behind. This means you'll see Thanksgiving pictures in January 2010 and Christmas pictures in March 2010.

We felt like we should take Emmett to a pumpkin patch. It was his first. What I have learned that most of Emmett's "first" visits to anywhere is met with a blank stare. He has no idea where he is or what's going on.

Where am I?

What is going on?

Huh?

The Powder Puff Burlings

Let's get out of here.

Here is Emmett in his Halloween costume. He looks pretty happy.....

But then he decided that he didn't like that thing on his head.

And the baby tiger starts to meltdown.

Pucker Up!

Emmett has added a new talent to his bag of tricks - he can now kiss! It sometimes is slobbery but I'll take it. I love Emmett kisses. The best part? The way he looks when he puckers up.

Isn't that face just so kissable?!

Emmett Likes to Read

I mentioned before how he loves books. He even has a fictional character as a girlfriend. He's moved on now from picture books...he's a big boy that can read chapter books. He sure knows how to make us proud.

Hmmm....this looks like a pretty good read.

Bella is a nice name. That Edward sure sounds like a hunk. It's a shame he's a vampire.

Oh darn! I lost my page.

Wow. This is getting really good.

I wonder how it ends?

So do you think I should be worried about the books he's starting to get into?
